Saturday 1 February saw the inauguration of the building in Via Cantù in Bovisio Masciago, an important reference point for social and health services in the area. The structure, which already housed the Distretto Socio-Sanitary District and the Integrated Day Centre (CDI), is now enriched with four flats for the elderly, built thanks to funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). This project represents a significant step forward in improving the housing and care offer for the frail population.
The initiative was promoted and implemented by theDesio Area through the Consorzio Desio Brianza (Codebri), with 'Next Generation EU' funds from the European Union. In addition to the upgrading of spaces, the beneficiaries of the project are guaranteed essential services such as remote assistance, provision of meals and home care (SAD), thus ensuring comprehensive and integrated support.
For the provision of the remote assistance service, Codebri chose to rely on the innovative technology of SiDLY, a company specialising in remote assistance solutions. Thanks to this collaboration, elderly residents will be able to count on a constant monitoring system, improving their safety and quality of life.
The inauguration was attended by institutional representatives and citizens, testifying to the importance of the synergy between public and private entities in the realisation of increasingly effective and inclusive services for the community.
PNRR funds, a key resource
PNRR funding "Next Generation"Mission 5 Component 2 of Project Line 1.1.2 'Autonomy of the dependent elderly' was an indispensable means to crown the 'House of the Wise' project. This is 1.2 million in funds allocated to ensure the elderly a certain degree of autonomy, protecting them in a home context equipped specifically for them. Thanks to this availability and SiDLY's innovations, the Codebri was able to implement a housing complex of four flats, in which seven elderly people can live 24 hours a day.
The protagonists: SiDLY, the Consortium and the Man-down Centre
SiDLYdistributed in Italy by Irbemawas chosen for its solutions that allow for constant monitoring of fragile subjects, thanks to the class Ila medical certificate braceletincluded in an advanced monitoring system. The innovative technology, designed and assembled in Europe, provides a dedicated platform for alarm management, as well as indoor and outdoor (out-of-home) fall detection.
With the Man-down Operations Centre, of Tiempo Nord Srlthis information is provided to the caregiver in real time, so that he or she can intervene in the most appropriate and timely manner possible. This service is essential to ensure a high level of care for the persons concerned. This is possible thanks to qualified staff working 24/7, who frequently check the physical and emotional well-being of the elderly person.
The Codebri - a body accredited by the Lombardy Region and set up by the seven municipalities of the Desio Ambito (Bovisio Masciago, Cesano Maderno, Desio, Limbiate, Muggiò, Nova Milanese and Varedo), has been a point of reference for personal services for over 40 years. Through a wide network of interventions dedicated to minors, people with disabilities, the elderly and their families, it guarantees assistance and wellbeing to the community.
As of 01/07/2024, Codebri becomes the lead organisation of the Family Centre - Oikos, from Families for Families, with the aim of offering psycho-socio-educational and social-health support to individuals and their families. The centre provides basic and supplementary services, focusing on information and prevention. Initiatives include counselling counters and group and individual activities, designed to meet the specific needs of families in the area.
In particular, with regard to the area of the elderly and frailty, a training and information course aimed at caregivers was launched, with the intention of facilitating their meeting, offering them the opportunity to acquire new skills useful in caring for and supporting their loved ones.
The synergy between these realities was the beating heart of the project and enabled the concrete realisation of its objectives. The initiative thus proves to be a replicable model in similar contexts.
